Artelia Spears in three words is described as DOWN TO EARTH. Known to family and friends as Tia, she is a proud graduate of Wilson High School. She furthered her education and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Master’s of Business Administration from Francis Marion University. Most recently, she is completed two certificate programs with Berklee School of Music in the areas of Music Theory and Keyboard Skills.

She was converted and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 17 under the leadership of Bishop Michael L. Bull. She is a member of St. Matthews UCJC in Darlington, SC where she assists and serves as Music Coordinator. Artelia has over 30 years of broad-based music expertise as a musician and musician trainer. She has traveled extensively with Derrick Bull & Remnant, local churches and several national church organizations.

As a member of Derrick Bull and Remnant, she has served as the Director of Music, songwriter and musician. She has recorded with the group for their Freshman album which was released in 2010 and the anticipated Sophomore album recorded in 2014. The 2010 release, Heart of A Worshipper included the popular song Bless Your Name; co-written by Artelia, Derrick Bull and Chad Chambers. The 2014 recording granted her the opportunity to have her song “Signs and Wonders” recorded and included on the upcoming album. In 2021 Artelia release her first single entitled ‘Resting In Your Word’ and continues to write and produce music.

Artelia has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. As a pianist and organist, she has rented instruments for events for over a decade. Additionally, she started Artelia Spears Music Makers in 2014, which provides private piano and organ lessons, musician services for funerals, weddings, church programs, conventions, clinics and workshops. Artelia also provides online Organ lessons with themusiciantrainingcenter.com. Combining her Music Theory knowledge with her passion to teach; she enjoyed being able to share music with young minds as a Part-time Band Director at two elementary Florence 1 Schools prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Serving as teacher assistant for the Darlington High School band afforded her the opportunity gain invaluable knowledge and enhance her ability to teach and introduce students to multiple instruments.

Artelia was recognized as a Black History Shaker by Glory 98.5FM/540 AM radio station for her work in the community. She gives back to the community by organizing and providing an annual free SUMMER Community Piano camp and most recently she brought the first ever Drum Clinic to the PEE DEE area in January 2020.

Tia is a down to earth Realist. Grateful for the grace of God, when she’s around you’ll know truth and dependability is present. Tia enjoys ministering music and ushering people into the presence of God. Her greatest desire is to see people worshipping God and enjoying the journey of life God has purposed for them. Her motto is “make sure you hear God’s voice louder than any other voice and follow His lead”.
